SA’s ANC pitches for votes as majority threatened

South Africa’s oldest liberation movement, the African National Congress (ANC), is facing a tough challenge in the upcoming elections as other political parties threaten to take away its majority.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has acknowledged the growing discontent among South African voters and has vowed that his government “will do better” to address their concerns. The ANC has been the ruling party in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994, but recent corruption scandals and economic struggles have eroded its popularity.

In an effort to regain the trust of the people, the ANC has been campaigning vigorously ahead of the elections. Ramaphosa and other party officials have been crisscrossing the country, meeting with voters and promising to tackle issues such as unemployment, crime, and poverty.

Despite the ANC’s efforts, opposition parties such as the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) have been gaining momentum. The EFF, led by firebrand leader Julius Malema, has been particularly vocal in its criticism of the ANC’s record in office.

As the election day draws closer, the ANC is making a final push to secure the support of voters. Ramaphosa has urged South Africans to give the ANC another chance to lead the country into a brighter future. Only time will tell whether the ANC will be able to retain its majority or if South Africa will see a shift in political power.
