Helsinki-based football club HJK has once again added a Ghanaian player to their roster with the signing of midfielder Hans Nunoo Sarpei.

Sarpei becomes the sixth Ghanaian player to don the blue and white jersey for the team, following in the footsteps of Malik Abubakari, Evans Mensah, Richard Gadze, Anthony Annan, and Gideon Baah.

Sarpei’s arrival at HJK also holds a special connection to the team, as his uncle, Hans Adu Sarpei, a two-time World Cup player, also previously played for the Helsinki-based club. In a notable moment, Sarpei’s uncle watched from the bench as HJK, led by Teemu Pukki, defeated Schalke in August 2011.

During his testing matches in the Liigacup, Sarpei wore the number 77, a number previously worn by Abubakari and Mensah. The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a 2+1 year contract with HJK and will be sporting jersey number 14 as he takes to the field for the Finnish club.

Sarpei’s arrival further cements the strong connection between HJK and Ghanaian talent, showcasing the club’s commitment to fostering international talent and creating opportunities for players from around the world.
