With the recent departure of Chris Hughton as the head coach of Ghana’s national men’s football team, the Black Stars are currently in search of a new leader.

Following their early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made it clear that they are looking for an experienced coach with a proven track record of success to take over the reins.

One name that has emerged as a potential candidate for the job is Jurgen Kholer, a FIFA World Cup winner and former German national team player. According to sources in Germany, Kholer has officially submitted his curriculum vitae to the GFA and is hoping to be considered for the vacant coaching role.

Despite being unattached after leaving his last job as FC Viktoria Köln manager, Kholer brings with him a wealth of experience in coaching. With a UEFA Pro License certificate and over 15 years of coaching experience, he has managed various clubs and even served as the director of football at Bayer Leverkusen. His playing career, which included stints at top clubs such as Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich, further adds to his credentials.

What makes Kholer a strong candidate for the Black Stars coaching job is his proven track record in team development, organization, and talent scouting.

During his time as manager of the German U21 team, he successfully revamped the structure of the team and played a key role in nurturing young talents for the senior national team. His leadership skills and discipline on and off the field have earned him the nickname “Football God” among football fans.

As a member of the 1990 FIFA World Cup-winning team for Germany, Kholer has experience playing at the highest level of international football. His 102 caps for Germany and his ability to get the best out of his team make him a strong contender for the Black Stars coaching job.

With his impressive coaching and playing credentials, Jurgen Kholer could potentially be the answer to Ghana’s search for a new head coach. His application for the position signals his interest in leading the Black Stars to future success on the international stage.
