Nicholas Mensah, a midfielder for Asante Kotoko, has expressed his determination to help his team win the Ghana Premier League title this season.
Despite a shaky start to the season, the Porcupine Warriors managed to significantly improve their performance and finish in third place in the first half of the domestic top-flight campaign.
The Premier League is set to resume this weekend, with Kotoko scheduled to face Heart of Lions in the week 18 fixture.
Speaking to the club’s media, Mensah, who recently returned from suspension, called on the fans to support the team as they strive to secure the league title by the end of the season.
“We expect our fans to unite and rally behind us. We assure them that we will win the Ghana Premier League title. We have been talking to ourselves and we will do everything possible to win the title at the end of the season,” Mensah said.
He played in Kotoko’s victory over Nsoatreman FC in the J.A Kufuor Cup last Sunday.
The talented midfielder was previously handed a 12-month ban after being found guilty of using a double identity.
Nicholas Mensah was discovered to be the same player registered as Louis Mensah with his former team, Damasua Delsanco FC.
The issue came to light when Aduana FC lodged a complaint against Asante Kotoko following their Ghana Premier League clash in February 2023, alleging that the Porcupine Warriors had fielded an unqualified player.
After an investigation by the Disciplinary Committee of the FA, it was determined that Kotoko were not at fault, and charges were brought against the player and Delsanco instead.
