The Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Mogadishu has been officially reopened following extensive renovations and the installation of new medical equipment.

The reopening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and His Excellency Ahmad Juma Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to Somalia.

The hospital now encompasses eight major departments including Emergency, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dermatology, ENT, and an Imaging Department with ultrasound and X-ray devices. UAE’s commitment to continue supporting and aiding the Somali people was emphasized by Ambassador Al Rumaithi.

The reopening of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital is part of the UAE’s efforts to support Somalia and its health sector, aiming to improve the quality of medical services provided to Somalis, particularly for the most vulnerable groups who are unable to afford treatment and medications at private hospitals.

The initiative has been commended by HE Prime Minister Barre, who also expressed gratitude to the UAE for its support. The hospital, which provides free medical services and medications to patients, is one of the few medical centers in Mogadishu offering such services.

The attendance of several government officials of Somalia at the opening ceremony, including the State Minister for Health and Mogadishu’s Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs, reflects the importance of this development. Saif Ali Al Rashash, Chargé d’Affaires at the UAE Embassy, was also in attendance.
