A new initiative to celebrate and honor the reggae and dancehall genres in Ghana is set to launch in July 2024. The Reggae Gold Awards, organized by Mr. Logic, aims to recognize and reward unadulterated reggae and dancehall songs through a technical-based award system.
Mr. Logic, who was also involved in the Bass Awards in the past, decided to create the Reggae Gold Awards after noticing a lull in the reggae and dancehall music scene. He expressed his passion for the genres and his desire to revive them through this new award scheme.
The Reggae Gold Awards will differ from other music awards in Ghana as it will focus solely on technical excellence rather than popularity. The board of the scheme will consist of individuals with in-depth knowledge of reggae and dancehall music, ensuring a fair and transparent judging process.
After the official launch in July, the main awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in November 2024. This exciting new initiative is expected to bring attention and recognition to the talented artists and creators within the reggae and dancehall music industry in Ghana.
