King Ampaw encourages use of local languages in Ghanaian films

Veteran movie producer King Ampaw has advocated for Ghanaian filmmakers to incorporate Ghanaian languages into their films.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, King emphasized the importance of using local languages and exploring local locations to create authentic and impactful content for Ghanaian audiences.

He stressed the need to showcase the real lifestyle of Ghanaians to the world in order to promote and market Ghanaian culture globally. Despite acknowledging the challenges facing the Ghanaian movie industry, King expressed optimism for its growth and development.

In a bid to maximize the industry’s potential, King advised filmmakers not to solely rely on government funding for their productions.

He highlighted the limitations of government support and urged filmmakers to view filmmaking as a private business that requires more than just financial aid from the government.

King Ampaw, renowned for his iconic films such as ‘Kukurantumi: Road to Accra’ and ‘No Time to Die,’ emphasized the importance of hard work, originality, and a strong work ethic in the Ghanaian film industry.
