The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Divine Bosson, has requested the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources to intervene and address the acute water shortage problem in his area which has led to the rationing of water supplies.
After conducting preliminary investigations, it was discovered that there is an urgent need to split the pipelines feeding the municipality to improve water distribution. The issue primarily revolves around the split from Akrofu to ensure that people in the University of Health and Allied Sciences area have access to adequate water.
Mr. Bosson urged the Council of State Member, Sam Okudzeto, to advocate for the necessary funding from the Ministry to kickstart the diversion project promptly. He lamented the hardship residents go through due to the inconsistent water supply from the Ghana Water Company.
In a call for support, Sam Okudzeto encouraged the newly elected assembly members to create innovative avenues to generate resources for their localities, rather than solely relying on public funds. He also emphasized the importance of informing and involving the people in government initiatives to ensure they benefit from these programs.
Moreover, the newly elected Presiding Member of the Ho Municipal Assembly, Mawunyo Agbe, proposed an extension of the tenure of Presiding Members from 2 years to 4 years. This, he believes, would provide them with adequate time to plan and implement their development goals.
As this situation unfolds, it is crucial for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources to take swift action to address the water shortage issue in the Ho Municipality. The provision of a consistent and adequate water supply is essential for the well-being and prosperity of the residents in the area.
