Funding is a major challenge for us – Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has highlighted the issue of funding as a critical obstacle to the advancement of football in the country. He expressed his desire to provide each club in the country with one million dollars per season if given the opportunity.

Speaking at a meet the press session in Kumasi, Okraku emphasized the capital-intensive nature of football and the inadequacy of the current funding. He stressed that funding remains a major challenge despite efforts to secure it.

Furthermore, the Ghana FA president assured that his administration is dedicated to taking the necessary measures to enhance the development of the country’s football. He also took responsibility for the underwhelming performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Okraku emphasized the need for collective effort and ideas to transform the sport, expressing the association’s readiness to count on the collective input of all stakeholders.

His comments shed light on the financial constraints that many football clubs face in Ghana and the commitment of the GFA to address these challenges and improve the overall state of football in the country.
