Search warrant activity at the homes of musician and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs on Monday is linked to an ongoing sex trafficking investigation, according to a law enforcement source.
The source did not specify if Combs himself was the target of the investigation due to its sensitive nature.
The Department of Homeland Security Investigations New York confirmed that law enforcement actions were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation at Combs’ residences. Law enforcement officials were observed at two of Combs’ homes, one in Miami and one in Los Angeles.
HSI New York, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and local law enforcement, conducted the search warrant execution. Further information will be provided as it becomes available, according to the law enforcement department.
HSI is responsible for investigating transnational crime and threats, including human trafficking. A representative from HSI Miami described the enforcement action as a “search warrant execution.”
It remains unclear if Combs or other residents are the specific targets of the law enforcement actions. Attempts to reach Combs’ representatives for comment have been made by CNN.
Combs, known for founding the music label Bad Boy in 1993 and using stage names like Puff Daddy and Diddy, has been a significant figure in the hip-hop genre. With three Grammys and 14 nominations, Combs has made a mark as a musician, producer, and entrepreneur.
Despite the ongoing investigation, recent controversy surrounds Combs. In November 2023, he settled a lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who alleged years of abuse by Combs. This was followed by additional civil lawsuits, including allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
Combs has vehemently denied the allegations and has expressed his intention to fight for his name, family, and the truth.
The recent law enforcement actions at his properties add to the existing legal challenges he is facing.
