Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has expressed serious concerns about the state of football in Ghana.

During a session in Parliament on Wednesday, February 14, the Majority Chief Whip called for the government to intervene and save the sport from further damage.

Annoh-Dompreh emphasized the need for concrete reforms to address the issues facing the senior national team, the Black Stars. He even suggested that the government should be willing to risk FIFA sanctions in order to safeguard the future of football in the country.

“Our football, which is a valuable brand, is being destroyed, intentionally or unintentionally. This is all we have and we cannot afford to sit idly by while it crumbles,” he lamented.

The MP expressed confidence in the Sports Minister but also stressed the importance of not simplifying the matter to just budgetary concerns.

He urged swift action to tackle the problems affecting Ghanaian football and set the Black Stars on the right path without delay.
