Zambia is a big opponent but we will play to win on Friday, says Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle

The head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Nora Hauptle, has admitted that her team will be facing a tough challenge when they go up against the Copper Queens of Zambia on Friday.

The women’s national teams of the two countries are set to clash tomorrow in the first match of their two-legged tie in Round 3 of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

During a press briefing on Thursday ahead of the game, Coach Nora Hauptle acknowledged Zambia as a strong opponent but emphasized that the Black Queens have undergone thorough preparations and are determined to secure a victory.

“Zambia is a formidable opponent. They have a World Cup experience and played 21 games last year. They have talented players, so we see this as a must-win and we are aiming for the victory,” Coach Nora Hauptle stated.

She added, “We have had a very productive week of training and our focus is on our own game. It brings us pride that we have won 10 out of eleven games, but in football, the only thing that matters is the next game. We cannot dwell on the past, and our goal is to advance through this qualifying round.”

The match between Ghana and Zambia is scheduled to commence at 5 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
