Heart of Lions pulled off a remarkable upset against Asante Kotoko, claiming a 1-0 victory in their match week 18 showdown of the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

The return to their home ground was a significant moment for the team, with owner Dr. Randy Abbey expressing his immense joy at being able to play in familiar surroundings once again.

Dr. Abbey shared his excitement, saying, “It is a work in progress every time you come here, you will see improvements until we finish. It was also a challenge, but I must commend the Hohoe fans for their support. We won a few matches there and had some draws. There is no place like home,” highlighting the importance of playing at their own stadium after being away for the initial rounds of the league.

The atmosphere was buzzing as fans packed the stands, eager to watch their beloved Lions compete on their traditional turf.

The game itself was intense, with both sides showing determination and skill. However, it was Heart of Lions who managed to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute, thanks to a well-crafted goal by Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah.

Heart of Lions will now shift their focus to their upcoming league clash with Accra Great Olympics.
