Prof. JK Mintah appointed new Ghana Football Association technical director

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah as its new Technical Director, succeeding Bernhard Lippert, who held the role for the past four years.

The decision was confirmed during a media briefing organized by the Football Association in Kumasi on Wednesday.

Professor Mintah, who previously served as the Head of Coaching Education at the FA’s Technical Directorate, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in football development to his new role. His leadership in the Coaching Education division has been characterized by a strong commitment to nurturing talent at all levels of the sport, from grassroots to elite levels.

During Lippert’s tenure, the Football Association launched initiatives to shape the country’s football landscape, including unveiling the DNA of Ghanaian football. Professor Mintah’s appointment signals a new era for the Technical Directorate, with a focus on improving coaching programs to provide coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills to foster player development and tactical ingenuity.

Prior to his appointment as Technical Director, Professor Mintah also served as the psychologist for the Black Stars, further enriching his understanding of football at the highest level. His dedication to football development and his diverse experience within the sport make him a valuable addition to the leadership team at the Ghana Football Association.
