President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given assurance that Ghana is fully prepared for the upcoming African Games.
Speaking in his address to Parliament, the President commended the Local Organizing Committee and the Sports Ministry for their hard work in overcoming challenges to ensure the success of the event.
The 13th African Games are scheduled to take place from March 8 to March 23, with the University of Ghana Stadium and Borteyman Sports Complex set to host various sports disciplines.
During Ghana’s State of the Nation Address, President Akufo-Addo remarked, “This is a significant moment for Ghana as we prepare to welcome athletes from across the continent for the 13th African Games. It’s hard to believe, but this is the first time Ghana will host these games.”
Despite facing financial constraints during the preparations, the President expressed his satisfaction at the decision to host the games and emphasized that all preparations are now complete.
“It has taken a lot of courage to have persisted with the decision to host the games, especially when our financial problems came in the midst of the preparations. But I am glad we went ahead. The preparations are all complete,” he said.
It is worth noting that this year’s African Games will also serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in seven disciplines.
