England legend Michael Owen has commended Ghana international Jordan Ayew for his impressive goal for Crystal Palace against Everton in the English Premier League.
The Black Stars striker delivered a powerful strike from outside the box to give his team the lead in the highly anticipated match at the Goodison Park on Monday.
However, a goal from second-half substitute Amadou Onana in the 84th minute ensured that Crystal Palace secured a point on their home turf.
Owen was full of praise for Ayew’s goal, describing it as a fantastic strike that left goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with little chance of making a save.
“Ayew gets the ball out of his feet and it’s just a wonderful strike from 20 yards out and it’s a lovely strike. There’s nothing much the keeper can do about that. The ball just drops to Ayew and it’s a great strike,” he said.
On the other hand, the Ghana international expressed his gratitude to God and his teammates for their support.
“I thank God and I thank the team for the effort they put in. I don’t want to talk too much about my goal, but the most important thing for me is the team, and we’re happy to go home with a point,” Ayew said after the game.
Ayew’s goal was his third of the campaign and he has now contributed to a total of eight goals in the 2023/24 season.
