Ghanaian football club, Asante Kotoko, has announced the termination of their contract with attacker Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

The decision comes just 3 weeks after the player was signed to strengthen the squad of the Kumasi-based club.

In a statement released by the club on Monday, February 5, it was revealed that the termination of the contract is due to a medical issue.

The statement explained that the club had entered into an employment contract with the player to meet registration deadlines as announced by the Ghana Football Association. However, a pre-competition medical assessment revealed health-related issues that could rule him out for a long period.

The club concluded that continuing the employment contract with the player would not be of full benefit to both parties – the club and the player. The specific medical condition has been communicated to the player.

Furthermore, the statement disclosed that the registration of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been rejected by the GFA, and therefore, keeping him at the club would not be in the best interest of both parties.
