Highly esteemed Ghanaian coach Karim Zito has expressed confidence in his understanding of the intricate workings of Ghanaian football, distinguishing himself from other coaches in the country.

Zito, currently the successful manager of Dreams FC, has put forth his candidacy for the vacant Black Stars coaching position, citing his in-depth knowledge of the Ghanaian football landscape.

The position became available after Hughton was relieved of his duties in January following Ghana’s disappointing showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Zito’s coaching prowess was highlighted when he led the U-20 Black Satellites to victory in the U-20 Championship in 2021.

Despite facing backlash for his close association with Kurt Okraku, Zito remains steadfast in his readiness to take charge of the Black Stars.

“I am one of the most seasoned coaches in the country with a track record of success at both club and national team levels,” he stated.

“Although we couldn’t participate in the U-20 World Cup due to COVID-19 challenges, my achievements speak for themselves. My affiliation with Kurt Okraku may have raised eyebrows, but my experience and understanding of the game make me a suitable candidate for the Black Stars coaching role,” Zito affirmed.
