The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called on the government to intervene and address the poor management of the Black Stars by the Ghana Football Association.

He made this statement in Parliament on Wednesday following the disappointing performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Annoh-Dompreh urged the government to take action to revive the national team.

“We must all acknowledge that there are issues with the management of our senior national team, the Black Stars. There are definitely problems that need to be addressed,” he said.

“While reforms are necessary, we need to be specific about the changes we want to make, even if it means facing FIFA sanctions. If it is for the good of the sport, we must take the necessary steps,” Annoh-Dompreh added.

Ghana failed to advance to the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and recorded back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique, leading to their early exit from the tournament.

For the second consecutive tournament, the Black Stars were unable to secure a victory in the group stages, prolonging the country’s wait for its fifth AFCON title to 42 years.
