The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially given the go-ahead for the highly-anticipated J. A. Kufuor Cup match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.
The special game, which is being organized in honor of former Ghana president J.A. Kufuor, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This significant match forms part of the activities earmarked to celebrate the 85th birthday anniversary of the former President, under the auspices of the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation. The foundation formally sought permission from the GFA to host the game, which will feature two formidable teams, Asante Kotoko and Premier League side Nsoatreman FC.
In response to the request, the GFA has given its blessing and confirmed that the Kufuor Cup will kick off at 3 pm on the 18th of February. The GFA has also pledged its support for the match, promising to provide match balls and officials to ensure the smooth running of the event.
However, due to the scheduling of the Kufuor Cup, the domestic football governing body has had to reschedule matches involving both Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC in the FA Cup round of 16. As such, Asante Kotoko’s game against Karela United has been moved to Tuesday, February 13, while Nsoatreman FC’s match against Berekum Chelsea will now take place on Wednesday, February 14.
