Former Ghana star Abdul Razak criticizes GFA’s alleged preselection of Otto Addo as Black Stars coach

Ghanaian football legend Abdul Razak has voiced his dissatisfaction with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over what he perceives as a predetermined decision in appointing Otto Addo as the new coach for the Black Stars.

Following a disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign that saw Ghana exit the tournament with only 2 points, the GFA began the search for a new coach after parting ways with Chris Hughton.

Despite receiving a staggering 400 applications for the role, reports have surfaced indicating that the GFA’s search committee has already made up their minds to hire Otto Addo.

Razak has called on the GFA to take their time in selecting the most suitable candidate for the position, stressing that Otto Addo’s previous stint with the team did not produce positive results.

“If the FA knew they would appoint Otto Addo, there would be no need to open applications for the Black Stars coaching job. They treat the Black Stars’ coaching position as trash,” he told Akoma FM.

“Otto Addo led us to the World Cup, but nothing good came from it, so why him again?

“They (FA) should not try to deceive Ghanaians by opening the application when they considered appointing Otto, who knows nothing about coaching and has accomplished nothing. I will say it again that the GFA is treating the Black Stars coaching position like a refuse dump,”
