Former Asante Kotoko SC and Bibiani Gold Stars coach, Michael Osei, has thrown his hat in the ring for the position of Ghana head coach.

The Ghana Football Association announced a five-member committee on Thursday, January 25 to search for a new head coach for the Black Stars.

Following Ghana’s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the search for a new head coach commenced after parting ways with Chris Hughton. The Black Stars only managed to secure two points after three games, failing to progress to the next stage of the tournament.

“We have gathered enough experience until now,” Osei told Footballghana.com.

Osei recently completed a successful two-season stint as the head coach of Bibiani GoldStars SC, leading the team to impressive 9th and 5th positions in the fiercely competitive 2021-22 and 2022-23 Ghana Premier League seasons, respectively.

The experienced German-trained tactician has a rich history in Ghanaian football, with previous roles at New Edubiase United FC, Liberty Professionals, Star Madrid, and a notable spell with Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC. He also served as an Assistant for the Black Meteors on the national stage.
