Despite their impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Congolese national football team, the Leopards, received a bittersweet welcome upon their return home.

Anticipating a warm reception at the Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa, the players were instead greeted by an empty arena, a stark contrast to the enthusiastic welcome they received at N’Djili airport.

While the absence of cheering fans was disappointing, the team was still honored by the nation’s sporting authorities and received recognition from the Head of State for their representation of the country on the continental stage.
