CAF Champions League: Al Ahly calls on CAF to postpone match against Medeama SC

Al Ahly SC have written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to seek a postponement of their upcoming match against Ghanaian champions Medeama SC.

The Egyptian side’s delegation was unable to complete the journey from Accra to Kumasi due to a gastric collision with the front of the plane’s fuselage, resulting in a malfunction.

Despite attempts to fix the problem and find a substitute flight, the team was forced to spend the night in Accra and is expected to be on the first flight to Kumasi on Thursday morning.

However, with competition rules stipulating that visiting teams must have at least one training session at the match venue before matchday, it is unlikely that Al Ahly will train on the same day and there are fears of jet lag.

As a result, Al Ahly have written to CAF to request a postponement of Friday’s match to Saturday to allow for adequate preparation.

Al Ahly is currently at the top of Group D with six points, while Medeama SC is at the bottom of the pack with four points. This request for postponement comes with two matches remaining to conclude the group stage.
