Ghanaian international Abdul Baba Rahman suffered a scary moment during a Greek Cup semi-final match that saw him lose consciousness after colliding with an opponent.
The defender was involved in a serious clash of heads with an opposing player during the game between Panathinaikos and PAOK. The aerial duel resulted in Rahman losing consciousness in the 115th minute of the match, which had gone into extra time after a 2-2 tie in regulation time.
Rapid medical assistance was provided to the player on the field, eventually leading to him regaining consciousness. However, as a precaution, Rahman was taken away from the field in an ambulance to receive additional care in the hospital.
The match was briefly delayed due to the incident, and the referee eventually ended it, leading to a penalty shootout. Panathinaikos emerged victorious, winning the shootout 6-5, securing their place in the Greek Cup final.
The incident was a frightening moment for all involved, but the rapid response from the medical team and Rahman’s subsequent recovery highlight the importance of having proper medical support available at sporting events.
