Asec Mimosas inflict 2-1 defeat on Asante Kotoko to lift 2024 President’s Cup

ASEC Mimosas emerged victorious in the 2024 President’s Cup, which was held in honor of Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The renowned Ivorian club accepted the invitation from the Ghana League Clubs Association and faced off against Asante Kotoko in a thrilling match for the coveted trophy.

The game took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where Asante Kotoko struggled to keep up with the skill and determination of their Ivorian opponents.

ASEC Mimosas quickly took the lead, with Jao scoring an equalizer just 13 minutes into the first half. Arthur then extended their lead with a goal in the 25th minute, securing a comfortable advantage before halftime.

Despite a spirited effort from Asante Kotoko in the second half to overturn the scoreline, they were unable to stage a comeback in time. The only goal they managed to score was a penalty converted by Steven Mukwala in the 83rd minute.

With a final score of 2-1, ASEC Mimosas lifted the trophy and were crowned champions of the 2024 President’s Cup.
