Emilio Nsue, the captain of Equatorial Guinea, has been awarded the Golden Boot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after an outstanding performance in the tournament.

With an impressive five goals in four games, Nsue’s skill in front of goal proved to be unmatched throughout the competition. The 34-year-old right-back, who plays for Intercity in Spain’s third tier, demonstrated his attacking abilities by scoring all five goals in two standout performances.

Nsue secured a remarkable hat-trick against Guinea-Bissau in Equatorial Guinea’s second group stage match and followed it up with a brace in Nzalang Nacional’s 4-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in their final group stage encounter.

Despite missing a penalty in the round of 16 match against Guinea, Nsue’s exceptional goal-scoring contributions earned him the prestigious Golden Boot award, which he received during the closing ceremony as the tournament’s top scorer.

In the final match, Côte d’Ivoire staged an impressive come-from-behind 2-1 victory over favorites Nigeria to clinch the title at the Alhassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday.
