According to the statement, Kenneth bravely faced the challenges presented by ALS for over five years and endeavored to live his life to the fullest with grace and dedication.

“He lived by the principle that each day is a gift, and we are never alone in our journey,” the family added.

The family has requested that any donations be directed towards ALS research or to support Kenneth’s children in this difficult time.

ALS, a neurological disorder also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, impacts motor neurons, which are responsible for voluntary muscle control and breathing, as per the National Institutes of Health.

A friend of the family has started a GoFundMe page to assist Kenneth’s wife and children, Lilah and Kallum, during this trying period.

“Our beloved Ken has left us. As Susan and the children mourn the loss of the husband and father they held dear, the funds raised through this platform will help alleviate some of the financial burdens they face,” the fundraiser description stated.

“Ken touched the lives of so many individuals. As we mourn his passing, let us come together to support the beautiful family he has left behind,” the statement concluded.

The GoFundMe campaign has raised over $20,000, showcasing the love and support from fans and well-wishers.

Known for his remarkable performances in Star Trek: Discovery, Kenneth portrayed three Klingon characters across the series’ initial seasons.

While he embodied the roles of Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik in the first two seasons, he continued to impress viewers in Season 3 by playing Aurellio, a character for which a hoverchair was incorporated.

As his condition progressed, Kenneth required the use of a wheelchair, as reported by Deadline.

The talented actor also lent his voice to various characters in the first season of the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks, showcasing his versatility and talent.

In an interview with StarTrek.com back in 2017, Kenneth expressed his views on characters and perspectives, stating, “You’ll get to know the Klingons on our show, and then people can decide if we really are the villains.”

“Ken’s legacy will live on through his exceptional body of work and the memories he created for his fans and loved ones,” the family mentioned.

Additionally, Kenneth is recognized for his roles as Eric Green on Jericho and Joseph Danvers in Captain Marvel, where his portrayal of Carol Danvers’ father left a lasting impact.

It is without a doubt that Kenneth Mitchell’s legacy will continue to inspire and influence future generations in the entertainment industry.
