Ghanaian songstress Sista Afia has expressed her disappointment with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) after failing to receive a nomination in the recent nominees unveiling.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Sista Afia conveyed her disappointment with the award scheme’s organizers, stating that despite her hard work in producing hit songs, she was snubbed while some artists who don’t even apply for nominations managed to secure nods.
She called for fairness in the nomination process and urged the award scheme’s organizers to ensure transparency before it’s too late. Sista Afia also questioned the criteria used for nominations, specifically pointing out her track “Asuoden” from 2021 as an example of her overlooked efforts in the industry.
In a post on her Facebook page, the musician expressed her frustration, asking if she had offended someone at the Ghana Music Awards.
She highlighted the success of her song “Asuoden” in 2021 and expressed confusion over the lack of recognition. Sista Afia mentioned that she has observed artists receiving nominations without even submitting applications, which added to her disappointment.
