Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has expressed her disappointment with the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), criticizing their treatment of her as unfair.

The artist revealed that she has felt disrespected by the awards scheme for a number of years, despite her hard work and dedication to her music.

In a Facebook post, Sista Afia questioned whether she had done something wrong to deserve such treatment.

She particularly highlighted how her popular 2021 song ‘Asuoden’ was not nominated for any awards, despite its impact on the music scene at the time.

The singer also raised concerns about the nomination process, citing instances where artists who did not even submit their work were nominated, while others who did submit were overlooked.

She lamented the lack of recognition for her efforts in the music industry, saying, “The downplay on my efforts ever since I started doing music in Ghana hasn’t been fair to my craft and yes, it hurts because I work so hard.”

Despite her frustration, Sista Afia stressed that she has stayed quiet out of respect for the awards scheme and other industry players.

The singer’s public airing of grievances has sparked a conversation about transparency and fairness in award nominations in the Ghanaian music industry, with many fans and fellow artists showing support for Sista Afia’s sentiments.
