Gcaba family denies allegations of a role in AKA’s murder

The Gcaba family of South Africa has denied any involvement in the murder of popular rapper AKA.

AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, along with his close friend Tibz Motsoane, was tragically shot outside a restaurant in Durban in February last year.

Last week, during the trial of the suspects accused of the rapper’s murder, prosecutors implicated Sydney Mfundo Gcaba, a member of the Gcaba family, in the killing. It was alleged that one of Mr. Gcaba’s companies sent a significant amount of money to the bank account of one of the suspects shortly after AKA’s murder.

The prosecutor argued that there was no evidence that the suspect provided any services in exchange for the money. However, the Gcaba family stated that the payment was part of several legitimate business transactions between Mr. Gcaba and the suspect.

In a statement issued by the family, they expressed concern that Mr. Gcaba had not been allowed to share his side of the story with the authorities.

They emphasized that the transactions were documented and were not unique or isolated incidents. The family reassured that Mr. Gcaba was willing to cooperate to clear his name.
