DJ Azonto won’t get a penny from Bawumia for dancing to “Fa No Fom” – Sidney

Hiplife legend Barima Sidney has come out to address the recent controversy surrounding DJ Azonto’s demand for payment from Vice President Dr Bawumia for dancing to his hit song ‘Fa No Fom’ at a political rally.

In an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, Barima Sidney stated that DJ Azonto will not be receiving any compensation from the Vice President.

Barima Sidney clarified that according to copyright laws, playing a song at a political rally does not require payment to the artist.

He likened it to having your song played at a personal event like a birthday party, where no monetary compensation would be expected.

However, Barima Sidney highlighted that if a song is used for advertising purposes, such as in a TV or radio jingle, then the artist is entitled to compensation.

He emphasized that in such cases, legal action can be taken to ensure that the artist is appropriately compensated.

Barima Sidney, also known as Sidney Kofi Ofori, explained the distinction between playing a song at a political rally and using it for commercial purposes, reinforcing the importance of understanding copyright laws in the music industry.
