Renowned actor Alexander Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has spoken out against the excessive use of explicit content and insults in Ghanaian movies.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Agya Koo expressed his concerns about the negative impact such content can have on societal values, especially on young viewers who may be easily influenced.

Agya Koo emphasized the need for Ghanaian filmmakers to exercise restraint and adopt a more subtle approach to romantic interactions, similar to how it is done in industries like Bollywood.

He also mentioned a conversation he had with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who shared his disappointment at the prevalence of such content in local movies.

Despite facing resistance, Agya Koo remains committed to advocating for more responsible content creation in the Ghanaian film industry. He urged his fellow filmmakers to join him in promoting moderation and thoughtful storytelling.

This call for ethical filmmaking reflects a larger sentiment within the Ghanaian film community, highlighting the importance of shaping societal values through responsible and mindful storytelling. Agya Koo’s plea serves as a reminder of the impact that movies can have on shaping cultural norms and values.
