Kofi Adjorlolo lasts TV stations showing Nigerian movies for free on local channels

Ghanaian actor, Kofi Adjorlolo, has called out local television stations for their practice of downloading Nigerian movies to broadcast on their channels. Speaking from Nigeria, where he is currently working on a film, Adjorlolo expressed his disappointment with Ghanaian TV stations and other platforms for showcasing movies without proper permission.

According to the veteran actor, this practice has led to Nigerian producers overlooking Ghanaian actors, as they feel that their work is being exploited without authorization. Adjorlolo emphasized the negative impact this has had on Ghanaian actors financially and professionally, as they struggle to secure roles in Nigeria.

He urged the National Media Commission (NMC) and independent broadcasters to intervene and address this issue to protect the interests of Ghanaian actors. Adjorlolo highlighted the importance of respecting copyright and intellectual property laws, stating that unauthorized broadcasting of films can have legal consequences.

The actor also emphasized the significance of the relationship between Ghanaian and Nigerian actors, noting that many Ghanaians view Nollywood as a stepping stone to their careers. He stressed the need for TV stations to obtain proper permissions before broadcasting content to avoid detrimental effects on the industry.

Adjorlolo’s call to action comes as a warning to local channels to respect the work of both Ghanaian and Nigerian actors and to adhere to international copyright laws.
