American rapper Kanye West has recently joined the ongoing feud between Drake, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, providing his perspective on the matter.
The feud began when Cole referred to the trio as “the big three”, which Lamar strongly rejected. West, a longtime rival of Drake, spoke out on a remix of Lamar, Future, and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That.”
In the remix, West criticized Drake’s lyrics, questioning the quality of his lines. He also took a jab at Drake’s record deal with Universal Music, suggesting that he had sold the rights to his music for little financial gain. The remix was premiered on Justin Laboy’s radio show The Download, where West addressed Lamar by his nickname, K-Dot.
The animosity between West and Drake dates back to a dispute over a beat in 2018, which escalated with the release of a song by Pusha T (produced by West) that revealed the existence of Drake’s son Adonis. The feud continued with Lamar’s fiery verse on “Like That”, where he declared himself as the standout star among the trio.
Cole later responded to Lamar’s verse with a track called “7 Minute Drill”, criticizing Lamar’s latest album and suggesting that he had fallen off his A-game. Despite apologizing later, Drake continued to escalate the feud with a song called “Push Ups (Drop And Give Me 50)”, where he accused Lamar of being a record label puppet.
Drake’s latest track, “Taylor Made Freestyle”, further provoked Lamar by insinuating that he was avoiding the feud due to his association with Taylor Swift. The song also featured AI vocals from Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg, prompting Lamar to respond.
The feud has generated significant interest among fans, with both “Like That” and “Push Ups” ranking among the Top 40 most-played songs on Spotify.
