Popular Nigerian actress Jumoke Aderounmu, best known for her role as Esther in the hit series Jenifa’s Diary, has passed away at the young age of 37.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, who shared the news on his Instagram story on Sunday.
Although the cause of her untimely death was not disclosed, Adeola shared a flyer detailing the burial arrangements and expressed his grief by saying, “You are in a better place now, my sister.”
Jumoke Aderounmu’s colleagues, including Funke Akindele and Jide Awobona, have taken to social media to mourn her loss. The talented actress gained fame in 2016 for her role in Jenifa’s Diary and had an impressive resume with over ten movies (both in English and Yoruba) to her credit.
Apart from acting, Jumoke Aderounmu also worked as an on-air personality at Goldmyne Entertainment Box Office and as a TV show presenter at Concert Radio. In 2012, she produced the first season of her own TV show, The Lounge with Jumoke, which featured celebrity interviews and fashion opinions.
Her acting credits include roles in popular movies like ’’la femme Anjola’’ (2021), ’’Gone’’ (2021), and TV series like Industreet (2017) and Jenifa’s Diary (2016). Jumoke Aderounmu’s talent and vibrant personality will truly be missed in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
