Nollywood legend Kanayo O Kanayo has set his sights on a lofty goal – he wants to continue acting until he reaches the impressive age of 90. In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast, the 62-year-old actor expressed his ambition to remain active in the film industry for many years to come.
But Kanayo didn’t just talk about his personal goals; he also addressed some of the challenges facing Nollywood. The actor raised concerns about what he perceives as an “influx of untalented women” entering the industry. He also didn’t shy away from discussing sensitive topics like drug abuse and homosexuality among actors.
Highlighting the importance of talent in acting, Kanayo remarked, “Acting is natural. If it’s not in you, go and sell crayfish.” He also called for a purge of certain elements from the industry, pointing out the presence of drug use and what he described as “unnatural” behaviors.
This isn’t the first time Kanayo has spoken out about the issues plaguing Nollywood. Last year, he warned against the entertainment industry becoming a platform for individuals involved in the sex trade and homosexuality. And recently, he introduced his son, Clinton, to the world of filmmaking, showing his desire to pass on his legacy to the next generation.
With a determination to continue acting well into his golden years, Kanayo O Kanayo is not only focused on his own career but also on shaping the future of Nollywood for the better.
