MultiChoice, along with Africa Magic, has officially announced the upcoming 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), slated to take place from the 10th to the 11th of May 2024.
In a press conference held in Nigeria, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, described the 10th AMVCA as a milestone celebration of a decade of brilliance, innovation, and the magic of African storytelling on screen. The prestigious awards ceremony has become the standard for excellence in the African film industry, showcasing and rewarding outstanding achievements in filmmaking.
Femi Odugbemi, a renowned filmmaker, director, producer, and pioneer Academy Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory, has been appointed as the head judge for the awards. Odugbemi expressed the challenges faced by the jury in reviewing the pool of quality entries received this year, highlighting the importance of ensuring only the most outstanding works are recognized.
The 10th AMVCA will feature changes to the award categories, with Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress categories now being determined by the jury. The final nominees in each category will be announced live across all Africa Magic channels on March 24th, with the voting portal opening shortly after.
The two-day celebration of the 10th AMVCA will include events such as the Young Filmmakers and Content Creators event, Cultural Day, Opening Night celebration, and the Main Awards Ceremony. Sponsors for the awards ceremony include Amstel, Pepsi, Promasidor, Martell, TECNO, Verve, QuickTeller, Tiger Beer, MTN, and Indomie, all of whom play a crucial role in supporting and promoting the African film and television industry.
