Davido Takes Legal Action Against Baby Mama for Custody of Daughter.
Popular Nigerian singer, Davido, has taken his baby mama, Sophia Momodu to court in a bid to seek custody of their daughter, Imade.
Imade, the couple’s first daughter, was born in May 2015, and Davido has been actively involved in her upbringing. According to reports, Davido’s lawyers filed the lawsuit on April 17, 2024, at the Lagos State High Court.
The 31-year-old singer is requesting joint custody of his nine-year-old daughter and unrestricted access to her. In the lawsuit, Davido acknowledged his past relationship with Sophia Momodu, which resulted in the birth of Imade.
Davido stated that despite their agreement to co-parent Imade as biological parents, Sophia Momodu has been making unreasonable demands, causing him distress.
The singer highlighted his financial contributions towards his daughter’s education and living expenses, including the purchase of a Range Rover SUV and a Highlander SUV for their use.
However, Davido claimed that Sophia Momodu rejected a N200 million apartment he bought for them and demanded annual rent payments instead.
He also alleged that despite his efforts to provide for their daughter, Sophia Momodu continues to treat him unfairly.
In a recent development, Sophia Momodu hinted on social media about changing her daughter’s surname to her own due to her role as both mother and father to Imade.
This follows a previous post where she expressed disappointment that Imade took Davido’s last name instead of hers.
