The Nigerian Correctional Service in Lagos State has debunked rumors claiming that popular social media personality Bobrisky resides in a VIP apartment within the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Various online reports had alleged that Bobrisky, who is serving a six-month prison term for abusing naira notes, was enjoying special privileges in a newly constructed VIP apartment within the facility.
However, the NCoS, in a recent press statement signed by spokesperson Rotimi Oladokun, has dismissed these claims. The statement clarified that there are no en-suite cells or one-bedroom flats at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
It was stated that Bobrisky, like other convicted inmates, is housed in a shared cell within the facility. The NCoS emphasized that all inmates, including Bobrisky, are treated equally without any special amenities or privileges.
The Correctional Service also highlighted that the convicted inmate has access to reformative and rehabilitative platforms, such as educational and vocational training. Bobrisky has been allocated a shared cell with other inmates, as the infrastructure is designed to accommodate multiple individuals in shared buildings.
The statement concluded by affirming that all inmates are entitled to family and legal visits, which are closely monitored and regulated by the Nigerian Correctional Service.
