The renowned pathologist who conducted an autopsy on the late singer known as Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, has disclosed that the cause of death remains uncertain.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, revealed to journalists in Lagos State that the pathologist informed the coroner that the body of the deceased had already decomposed by the time the examination was carried out.
Shittu stated that the pathologist emphasized that due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it was impossible to determine the cause of death. He emphasized the importance of exhuming the body within 12 hours after burial to prevent such decomposition. Therefore, the pathologist concluded that the cause of death could not be ascertained, leaving it shrouded in suspicion and ambiguity.
Furthermore, the pathologist proposed that Mohbad might have reacted adversely to certain medications administered before his demise. However, he clarified that it was uncertain whether these drugs were directly linked to his death. Mohbad tragically passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, triggering controversies on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
Following his demise, the CEO of Marlian Music, Naira Marley, who was Mohbad’s former label boss, and the controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry, were apprehended. Subsequently, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to delve into the singer’s passing.
The suspects were later released on bail as the investigation continued. Finally, on September 21, 2023, Mohbad’s body was exhumed to conduct the autopsy.
