Throughout his career, he played for various teams including the Nashville Predators, the New York Rangers, the Atlanta Thrashers, and the New York Islanders. Currently, Michael serves as the goaltender development coach for the Boston Bruins, a position he has held since July 31, 2017.

Apart from his hockey career, Michael also played competitive golf and attended the University of Maine where he played for the Black Bears from 1990 to 1993. During his time at the university, he helped the team reach the NCAA championship and received several accolades including Hockey East First Team All-Star and NCAA East First Team All-American honors.

Michael Dunham is married to Kate Merrill, a well-known news anchor who recently left WBZ. The couple has two daughters, Addison and Kayden, whom Kate often features on her social media accounts.
