A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a family in Lakeville, Minnesota, as a brother has been arrested in connection to the murder of his sister.
Jack Joseph Ball was taken into custody after their neighbors alerted police about body parts found on their doorstep, which were later identified as belonging to 30-year-old Bethany Israel.
Israel, who was four months pregnant at the time of her death, was a beloved member of her community. Her brother, Ball, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for her and her unborn child’s deaths. The Dakota County District Attorney’s Office described the allegations in the case as “deeply disturbing and horrific.”
The gruesome discovery was made when family members became concerned after Israel did not return home following dinner with her brother. Upon arriving at the residence, they found a significant amount of blood and contacted the authorities. The police arrived to find bloody knives and dismembered body parts believed to be Israel’s.
Ball was located by police after a neighbor reported seeing him placing what appeared to be a body part on their front step. He was found with a self-inflicted injury to his neck and taken to a local hospital. Once medically cleared, he will be transferred to the Dakota County Jail with bail set at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.
Israel’s cause of death was listed as complex homicidal violence, leaving her family and friends devastated.
To help support her husband through this difficult time, loved ones have created a GoFundMe in her memory, describing her as a radiant spirit with unwavering kindness.
