Here’s how to sign in to your Universal Credit account to access your online journal

For households on Universal Credit, the government provides an online portal where they can track benefit payments. The platform comes with many other benefits and is available on the Government’s website.

Universal Credit applicants can log in to their online journal on the www.gov.uk website using their username and password.

These credentials are issued when they first apply for Universal Credit. In case of forgotten details, a request can be made to reset the login details by entering the email address or contacting the Universal Credit helpline on 0800 328 5644.

For NGT text relay, users can dial 18001 then 0800 328 5644. Additionally, there’s a Welsh language helpline available on 0800 328 1744.

The Universal Credit account, known as an online journal, helps applicants apply for an advance on their first payment, which bridges the five-week wait between applying and receiving the first benefit payment.

The online journal also offers the ability to view statements, report changes in circumstances, add a note to the to-do list, and check the date of the next payment. It also allows users to message their work coach, keep a record of activities done to prepare or look for work, and check their Claimant Commitment.

Universal Credit replaces various other benefits and is rolled out as part of managed migration. It combines several benefits into one monthly payment, such as Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, JSA, ESA, and Working Tax Credit. Applicants can use the Universal Credit online service to make a claim or join their partner’s claim. Additionally, they can use a benefits calculator to see how much they could receive and find out whether they are eligible for a claim.

As more income is earned, the overall benefits received may decrease, and users can use the taper system to understand how it works.
