Ghanaian artist Rapp Fada has raised doubts about the proposal put forward by Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, the head of The New Force political movement, to dredge the sea in Kumasi.
Rapp Fada believes that there are more pressing issues that need to be addressed, such as the challenges in education and the high rates of unemployment in the country.
In an interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, as cited by GhanaWeb, Rapp Fada questioned Cheddar’s plan to bring the sea to Kumasi, describing it as “deceptive” due to its impracticality and the challenges it would pose in implementation.
“He is being deceptive because he knows it will be tough for him to accomplish it [dredging sea in Kumasi]. The Ashanti Kingdom is vast, so he should choose his words carefully.
At least, there is Lake Bosomtwe in the region, so dredging a sea is unnecessary. I believe issues concerning education and unemployment are more critical for him to focus on rather than the sea,” Rapp Fada stated.
Cheddar, in an interview with Abusua FM in Kumasi, defended his vision of bringing the sea to the landlocked region, citing its potential to boost trade along Ghana’s Eastern and Western corridors.
However, his proposal has met with criticism from some members of the public, who argue that he is making unrealistic promises, thereby questioning his dedication to politics.
