Popular comedian and actor, Funny Face, has been remanded into police custody by the Ofaakor Circuit Court in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region.
The comedian, whose real name is Benson Nana Yaw Oduro, was arrested on Sunday evening after he was involved in an accident at Kakraba, Kasoa, where he hit four people – a mother with two children and a motor rider – with his car.
He was charged with drunk driving and careless driving and appeared before the court on Tuesday. Funny Face is expected to spend two weeks in police custody as he awaits his next court appearance. The accident left one of the victims in a coma, while the other three are currently receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma Centre.
In an interview with Adom News, Isaac Asare, the brother of one of the victims, explained that they faced challenges in getting his brother admitted to a hospital due to bed shortages. Initially transferred to Ridge Hospital and then to the Police Hospital, they finally took him to the community hospital in Kakraba, hoping for divine intervention for a transfer to a larger medical facility.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution while on the road. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
