English-born Ghanaian footballer, Kobbie Mainoo, is still weighing his options when it comes to deciding which national team to play for at the senior level, as reported by the Daily Mail. The Manchester United midfielder is holding off on making a decision until he can earn “competitive caps” for either Ghana or England.

Despite previously playing for England’s U-17 and U-19 sides, Mainoo is eligible to represent Ghana through his parents, as he was born in Stockport.

His outstanding performances for Manchester United have caught the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, who is reportedly keen on calling him up for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Bosnia and Herzegovina to deter interest from Ghana in the young talent.

Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has expressed the Association’s interest in collaborating with talented players like Mainoo in the future.

Mainoo, who is 18 years old, has already made an impact at the senior level with Manchester United, scoring his debut goal in a 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County, and following it up with a stunning winner in a 4-3 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
