Afcon 2023: Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku in Abidjan to watch finals

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has made his way to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the much-anticipated final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The final match will see the host nation, Ivory Coast, facing off against Nigeria at the Lassane Outarra Stadium in Ebimpe this Sunday.

Although the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, did not advance to the knockout phase of the tournament, Okraku will be present at the final as one of the esteemed guests.

Ghana faced challenges in the group stage, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde and managing consecutive 2-2 draws with Egypt and Mozambique, resulting in their exit from the tournament. They finished the group stage in third place with two points.

Okraku’s attendance at the AFCON final highlights the significance of the event within the African football community.

He is expected to witness an electrifying clash between Ivory Coast and Nigeria as they compete for continental glory. The much-anticipated game has been scheduled to kick off at 20:00GMT.
