The former president John Mahama has voiced optimism in the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) ability to address the economic challenges caused by the “inept Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.”
While visiting the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, Mahama emphasized the need for a leader with a proven track record and highlighted the NDC’s leadership qualities in positively influencing the country’s trajectory. He also stressed the importance of the upcoming 2024 general elections and the necessity for a truthful government.
Furthermore, Mahama assured the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II, that if the NDC secures power, they will prioritize addressing the Yendi water challenge, among other national issues.
The Yaa Naa advised the NDC flagbearer to conduct a clean campaign void of insults and derogatory remarks, citing its significance in maintaining peace in the country. He also urged Mahama to ensure post-election tranquillity, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and harmonious nation.
The former president echoed the sentiment, expressing his confidence in the NDC’s ability to turn the country’s fortunes around and lead Ghana out of the current hardships. Whether the NDC will secure victory in the 2024 elections remains to be seen, but for now, the party and its flagbearer are focused on their vision for the country’s future.
