Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Boateng saw red as Rio Ave held Porto to a 0-0 draw in the Portuguese league.
Boateng, 27, received a second yellow card in added time at the Rio Ave Stadium on Saturday, but the home team managed to secure a valuable point.
Porto initially thought they had been awarded a penalty in the fourth minute, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review.
They had a goal disallowed for offside in the 10th minute, and another goal disallowed just before half-time.
Boateng received his first yellow card in the 84th minute and was subsequently sent off in added time, leaving the field early.
The Ghanaian forward has scored 6 goals and provided two assists in 16 matches this season in the Portuguese league.
